More Ron's Cons

• CON:     Pritchard says he will "not waste one dime of taxpayer's money with irresponsible spending."

TRUTH:      Pritchard ignored the concerns of scientists and environmentalists, cut off citizen input on the need to save money by partnering with other agencies and enforcing wetlands protection laws, and led the charge to use scarce county EEL (environmentally endangered lands) funds to buy 62 acres of land --- almost half of which is under water --- at more than three times the appraisal price. Pritchard never supported the EEL program until this re-election year, when he used it in his district to "protect the 1000 Islands" (there are another 800+ acres yet to be protected).

Of course we're all for protecting the 1000 Islands, not just 15 acres of it (the only uplands in the purchase). But there are better ways to do it and he only did it because he needed to look environmental for the election.

• CON:     He has instituted many rational cost cutting measures for the county.

TRUTH:      Pritchard recommended charging residents for No-Parking and Children-At-Play signs.


Spends Citzens's Money on Self-Promoting Projects: Since January 2006, Pritchard has had no problem spending tax dollars to have county employees make and install signs throughout District 2 with his name on them.

• CON:      Pritchard says he wants to protect Brevard County's "Way of Life."

TRUTH:     Pritchard voted against the ENVIRONMENTALLY ENDANGERED LANDS (EEL) Program approved by almost 70% Brevard voters.

Pritchard voted for a large riverfront condo development on Merritt Island.

Pritchard reluctantly voted for impact fees when there is $400 million in unfunded road projects in Brevard County and large unmet needs for drainage capability in his District.
