No More Ron! This Website is dedicated to educating the public
about Brevard County (Florida) Commissioner Ron Pritchard, District 2
(Merritt Island, Cape Canaveral, Cocoa, Avon By The Sea, Cocoa Beach, Snug Harbor,
Patrick Air Force Base, Port Canaveral and Kennedy Space Center.)
Is Ron Pritchard Connected to the Abramoff Scandal?
Republican Chair of the Brevard County Commission tried to help SunCruz owned
by Jack Abramoff stay in business.
When Sen. Mike Haridopolos, R-Melbourne, introduced a bill to ban gambling
cruises, Ron Pritchard was the lone County Commissioner to support a
resolution opposing Sen. Mike Haridopolis's bill. The resolution was voted
down, 3-1. "I just find it incredible that the County Commission would not
support a resolution against Senate Bill 2800", said Commissioner Ron Pritchard.
SunCruz Casino, purchased in part by Jack Abramoff, was the focal
point of the federal law suit against Mr. Abramoff. Abramoff pleaded guilty
in federal court…to conspiracy and wire-fraud stemming from his 2000
purchase of a gambling boat fleet, SunCruz Casinos. SunCruz Casino's drew
965,248 passengers to Port Canaveral, according to Port Authority statistics.
According to an analysis by the non-partisan Center for Responsive Politics,
210 current members of Congress have received contributions from Abramoff,
his Indian tribe clients or SunCruz Casinos since 1999.
